You’ve found our 3rd grade classroom website for Andale Elementary School! My name is Ms. Kimberly Lies. This is my 15th year teaching. In my free time I love to listen to Audible books, cook, pray, help with prison ministry, create lesson plans for other teachers to purchase online, play with family and friends, and craft. Being crafty and designing is my passion! I’m excited for the opportunity to be your teacher this year! It’s going to be wonderful!
Wendy and I are working to differentiate math and reading this year. Students will be assigned to one of our rooms for these two subjects. Para support will be available during both of these subjects, to help us meet all learners. I teach science and Mrs. Haynie-Cosby teaches Social Studies. We’re super excited to get big blocks of time to explore these areas. New to Andale Elementary is a program we’re starting called Falcon Families. All AES students will become a part of a family that will last until they’ve graduated from AES. Students’ families will contain about 7 members.
Most of 3rd grade communication will travel through e-notes! Be sure to check your email for important reminders, newsletters, etc. You can place a book order online anytime. We’ll send fliers out in Friday folders.
For behavior, we’re going to use clip-ups on a behavior chart! When you’ve reached the top, you get a prize! That may be swapping seats with someone, wearing a hat to school, a piece of gum, chance at the prize tub, etc. We’re excited to celebrate positive behavior.
I’ve been helping with a brand new STEM lab! We hope to use it several times this year! Things will get a little messy, but we can’t wait to construct new knowledge and practice new skills!
I coach volleyball in the Fall and it gets a little busy with late nights, as you can imagine. So, if you need ANYTHING, please email me! email@example.com I’ll get back to your email ASAP. If you need anything, you can also text/call too. Please send me an email and I can get you my number. During school hours, having the office buzz my room is the best bet! Especially call through the office if your child is supposed to change their after school plans. I don’t always get to my cell during school hours.
All third graders have plenty of time to complete their work during class. They may occasionally have a couple of problems left over. There are spelling tests on Fridays and we really work with kids to get their math facts mastered. If your child struggles on their daily timed tests, you might want to practice 5 minutes/day. Each written assignment has until 8:15 the next day to get to the basket. After that, it is considered LATE and receives 50% off. Your child is responsible for getting their homework to the basket first thing in the morning. I WILL NOT go to their desk to get it. Responsibility is an important Renwick Shared Moral Value and something they’ll master over time.
